CHAPIN, S.C. - Cindy Lea Kempf, 54, died Saturday, March 10, 2007. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 2062 Beltline Blvd., Columbia, S.C. 29204 or to PanCAN, 2141 Rosecrans Ave. Suite 7000, El Segundo, CA 90245, which is a charitable organization for people with pancreatic cancer. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, S.C., is handling the arrangements. Ms. Kempf was born in Muscatine, the daughter of the late Paul Raymond and Phyllis Naomi Sloan Kempf. She graduated from Muscatine High School in 1970. Formerly employed by HON Industries, she moved to South Carolina to open their operation in Winnsboro. She later was an executive assistant with Stevens and Wilkinson. Her special interests included her grandchildren, the beach and sewing. She was a member of First Christian Church where she sang in the choir and had recently been elected deacon and served as chairwoman of the Missions Committee.
