George Cameron Huff, 91, of Marquette, died Friday evening, June 18, 2021 at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living while under the care of Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice. George was born on February 25, 1930 in Marquette to the late Willard and Jessie (Cameron) Huff. He was a 1948 graduate of John D. Pierce High School. After high school George enlisted in the United States Air Force, which spanned a career of 20 years until his retirement in 1970 as a Master Sargent. He worked as a crew chief for heavy bombers and the last 10 years of his military career with Titan II missiles in Tucson, Arizona. George then worked 13 years as a corrections officer with the Marquette Branch Prison, retiring fully in March of 1986. He married the former Joan A. Meyers (Richer) on July 20, 1973 at the First United Methodist Church in Marquette and together they enjoyed 48 years of marriage. He enjoyed wintering in Tucson, Arizona and did so for 30 years. In his free time he was a very talented woodworker and found great enjoyment painting. ville, AR; eight grandchildren, John Warren Bailey, Jessica (Ben) Kloosterman, Brooke Meyers, Austin Meyers, Jonathan (Josie) Meyers, Todd (Mandy) Hafner, Aaron (Katy) Hafner, and Dusty (Jill) Hafner; and two great grandchildren, Weston Kloosterman and Bailey Kloosterman; also many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Meyers Bailey; his siblings, Willard "Bill" (Agnes) Huff, Robert (Jane) Huff, Margaret (Earl) DeMarse and Dorothy (Clifford) Clement. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 12th at 1 p.m. in the Park Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Peggy and Roy Amsbury for providing invaluable assistance to both George and Joan over the past several years.
