CLYDE STOKES MUSCATINE, IOWA - Clyde J. Stokes, 83, of Muscatine, died Monday, May 21, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. His body has been cremated and burial will be held at a later date. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Clyde was born on January 27, 1924, in Holly Grove, Arkansas, the son of Jud and Jettie Teague Stokes. He married Peggy A. Rogers on March 2, 1948, in Holly Grove, Arkansas. He was a US Navy veteran serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He had worked for Kent Feeds for 29 years retiring in 1989. Clyde enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Peggy A. Stokes of Muscatine; two sons, Larry Stokes and his significant other, Cathy Shouse, of Muscatine, and Jerry Stokes of Muscatine; one daughter, Barb Schroeder of Muscatine; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jerry Stokes of West Helena, Arkansas, and Sonia Stokes of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
