Jacqueline Garkie

Jacqueline "Jackie" Garkie, age 70, of Quincy, died Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at 3:12 pm in Blessing Hospital. Jackie was born December 10, 1950 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Theodore W. and June Stather Brotherton Bean. She received her bachelor's degree from Quincy College and her Masters Degree in Mental Health and Counseling from the University of Illinois Springfield. Jackie began working at St. Mary Hospital and stayed through the transition to Blessing Hospital with over 35 years of service to the organization. She was truly dedicated to improving the mental health of the community in her role as a counselor. Jackie was a long time member and deacon at Faith Presbyterian Church. She loved vacationing in the Ozarks and traveling with her family and grandpets. She fondly reminisced about her tour of the U.S. MLB stadiums that she took with her father and brother as a young girl. She loved all animals, especially her dog Emma and her grandpets. She was a musician at heart who played the violin, flute, and piano.
