James "Jim" Ward, 69, of Conrad, IA passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, August 6, 2021 at Anderson Funeral Homes in Conrad. A celebration of life will follow the visitation at RJ's Lounge in Conrad. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established by the family. Interment will be at Conrad Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent www.andersonfhs.com. James was born on August 6, 1951 to Earl G. and Lois K. Merrill Ward. He grew up north of Green Mountain, Iowa on the family farm. He attended Green Mountain School and graduated in the class of 1969. James was united in marriage to Diana Lea Menzel on August 10, 1973. He worked at Clemens Seed Company following graduation until becoming a part owner of Grain Farms Inc. in 1976. In time he & his wife Diana bought out the other partners and continued to run the operation until present time. for breakfast with his granddaughters. When he was able, he loved his motorcycle and going for rides with friends. Jim liked to socialize with his buddies at the local bar and let's not forget when he'd bring home Casey's donuts and ruin us girls' diets. James will be missed by his loving wife of nearly 48 years. Two sons; Ryan James Ward, Travis Lee Ward (Tasha Pieper) all of Conrad, IA. Five grandchildren; Jade (Grant) Stanley, Maggie Ward, Allison Ward, Brooke Ward, and Cami Ward, along with two step-grandchildren Nicholas and Leah Pieper. One great grandson due in September. His brother Thomas M. (Linda) Ward, nieces Shannon (Richard) Leavy, Brandi (Bob) Zednichek, Brother-in-law, Robert (Janice) Menzel, sister-in-law Vicky (Bill) Risk, nephews Jeffrey (Michelle) Hilsabeck, Matthew Hilsabeck and niece Stacy Hilsabeck and Andrew Menzel and Jen (Rick) Geist along with numerous great nieces and nephew and great great niece and nephew. James was preceded in death by his parents, a brother in infancy, his mother & father-in-law Arnold (Pete) and Helen Menzel, numerous Aunts, Uncles & Cousins. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Oakview Nursing Home and Hospice and Palliative Care Compassus for their exceptional care.
