Martha Wolf

Martha Genevieve Mitsven was born in Bode, Iowa, on February 25, 1929, the seventh of eleven children to Herman and Laura (Gravlund) Mitsven. She grew up in Bode and graduated from Bode High School in 1947. On March 15, 1950, Martha was united in marriage to Gail Wolf of LuVerne, at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode. After their marriage, they moved to Gail's family farm, east of LuVerne. Two children were born to this union: Ronald and Debra. Gail passed away on September 24, 2001, and Martha continued to live on the farm. Gail and Martha worked together on the farm. They were instrumental in forming and working at the LuVerne Days Celebration for many years. They worked to bring LuVerne Lanes to the town, and they bowled in league several nights per week. They also were dancing enthusiasts, belonging to a Polka Club and they also loved to dance the jitterbug! Gail and Martha were sports enthusiasts, enjoying following LuVerne High School and CWL athletics and activities. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in LuVerne. e was 92. Martha is survived by her daughter, Debra (Don) Bristow, Algona; 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by sisters Irene Curry and Elaine Feauto, a brother Jerry Mitsven, and many nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gail; and son, Ron Wolf. She was also preceded in death by sisters Hilda Via, Marie Gord, Laila Oleson, and Darlene Curry; and brothers Alfred, Harold, and Ernest Mitsven.
