Vincent A. Gaeta, Sr. was born on February 2, 1924, in Muscatine, the son of Louis and Phillipa Cirvello Gaeta. He married Josephine Satariano on June 22, 1949, in Pittsburg, Pennsylviana. As a life long resident of this area, he served during WWII in the U.S. Army from February of 1944 to June of 1946 in Europe, (England, France, Holland and Germany) for 13 months. He served in PFC Company C, 133rd Infantry, and the 288th Combat Engineer Battalion, the Military Police, National Guard and received an honorable discharge. He was a member of the St. Mathias Catholic Church and the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He worked at Alcoa from 1955-1986 in heat treat metal and was a member of Alcoa Safety Committee for 11 years and the Alcoa Retirees Club. He was also a member of the Muscatine Pearl City Sam's Club and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, tending to his farm, yard and rose gardens, traveling, camping and visiting with family and friends, woodworking and home projects. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Josie Gaeta of Muscatine; three sons, Anthony Gaeta and wife, Carol, John Gaeta and wife, Gail, and Vincent Gaeta Jr. and wife, June Anne, all of Muscatine; two daughters, Providence Provy Shoultz and husband, John, of Muscatine and Maryann Mulvihill and husband, Patrick, of St. Charles, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, Ann Gaeta, Jennifer Gaeta, April Rickey, Tara Shoultz, Jared Shoultz, Maureen Mulvihill, Sean Mulvihill, Beau Huber, Kathryne Edwards and Griffin Gaeta; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Phillip Gaeta of Muscatine; and one sister Rose LoBianco of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charles, Joseph and Carmello and two sisters, Mary Gaeta and Providence Gaeta.
