David LaRue Parks

David L. Parks, age 84, the son of Leslie and Beth (Crawford) Parks, was born December 21, 1936 in Lexington, NE and passed from this life on August 25, 2021 in Omaha, NE. He grew up in Ogallala, NE and Lexington, NE along with his older brother, Dean, and younger sister, Darleen. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1956 and then attended Kearney State College before transferring to the Nebraska University (UNL). He rounded out his education earning a certificate of Physical Therapy from Hermann Hospital School of Physical Therapy in Houston, TX. It was at Hermann's that he met his lovely bride, Carol Sherwin. After marrying on November 25, 1961 they moved to Des Moines, IA; shortly after they settled in Omaha, NE to practice physical therapy for 37 years. Dave was an avid Nebraska Trap Shooter, hunter, and fisherman. He loved watching sports and truly enjoyed cheering for the Cornhuskers; in addition, he rarely missed a game or dance recital for his children and grandchildren. Survived by devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Carol Ann Parks; six children: Shawn Parks (Timothy Schartz), Wendy Parks, Michael Parks, John Parks (Linda), James Parks, and Ryan Parks (Stacey); 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister: Darleen Wederski of Kyle, TX; sisters-in-law: Suzanne Parks of Ocala, FL, Rosemary Colgrove of Georgetown, TX and Bonnie Cory (Lloyd) of Mills River, NC; brother-in-law: James Sherwin of Brasstown, NC; many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends as well as the church family of St. Philip Neri - Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. MEMORIAL MASS 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 28, 2021 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 8200 N. 30th.
