THOMAS ROGERS SR. MUSCATINE, Iowa - Thomas A. Rogers Sr., 74, of Muscatine, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Unity Hospital. Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Bruce Martin of Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. Honorary bearers will be Tom Rogers Jr., Morgan Poole, Jack Wulf, and Deaner Brislawn. Casket bearers will be Dennis Rogers, David Rogers, Jody Brislawn, Nolan Poole, James Hamilton, and Ethan Rogers. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2009, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Jody Wulf. Thomas was born on October 2, 1934, in Holly Grove, Arkansas, the son of Ellis 'Snowball' and Dessie Faye Grimes Rogers. He married Dorothy Angle. He was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Iowa Electric Light and Power Company on November 1, 1991, after 27 years of employment there. children, and great grandson, Dalton, dearly. He had a special and tender bond with his dog, Lacy. Those left to honor his memory include his special companion of 27 years, Donna Brislawn of Muscatine; three sons, Thomas A. Rogers Jr. and wife, Melody Lynn, of Yuma, Arizona, Dennis Ray Rogers and wife, Lani, of Casper, Wyoming, and David Wayne Rogers and wife, Thelma, of Chicago, Illinois; two daughters, Jody Wulf and husband, Jack, of Muscatine, and Mary Poole and husband, Morgan, of DeWitt; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, John Ed Rogers of Wichita, Kansas; and four sisters, Grace Cruse of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Lois Norwood, Peggy Stokes, and Madeline Flake, all of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents.
