JOYCE KEMPER MUSCATINE, Iowa - Joyce Kemper, 75, of Muscatine, died Monday, October 26, 2009, at her home. Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church. Reverend David Ivie of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren, Nathan Daufeldt, Eric Daufeldt, Marsha Dobbins, Jay Kemper, and Jeffrey Kemper. Private burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Sweetland United Methodist Church or Iowa City Hospice. Joyce was born on June 4, 1934, in Muscatine, the daughter of Harold W. and Jessamine "Jess" Pain Ogilvie Sr. She married Paul Kemper on August 9, 1953, in Muscatine. She was a graduate of Muscatine High School. She was a member of the Sweetland United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and held various positions and offices within the church. She also served as a Methodist Youth Fellowship Counselor. She was a member and Past President of the PEO Chapter MN and was a Unity Hospital Auxiliary volunteer. ...[more]

Survivors include her husband, Paul Kemper of Muscatine; one son, Jim Kemper and wife, Denise, of Muscatine; one daughter, Cindy Hatfield and husband, Pete, of Muscatine; five grandchildren, Nathan Daufeldt and wife, Amanda, of West Liberty, Eric Daufeldt and wife, Nicole, of Moscow, Marsha Dobbins and husband, Bryan, of Muscatine, Jay Kemper and wife, Jill, of Lancaster, California, and Jeffrey Kemper and wife, Jeannie, of Valparaiso, Indiana; four great-grandchildren, Preston, Owen, Samantha, and Kenzie Daufeldt; and two brothers, Harold W. "Nick" Ogilvie Jr. and wife, Jane, of Muscatine, and Thomas F. Ogilvie of Miami, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister in infancy.
