GARY HATFIELD MUSCATINE, Iowa - Gary Dean Hatfield, 63, of Muscatine, died Sunday, March 21, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 26, 2010, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Stephen Pera of the Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. A funeral luncheon will be held following the service at the American Legion Post No 27. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Gary Hatfield Memorial Fund in care of Linda Hatfield. Gary was born on November 27, 1946, in Muscatine, the son of William Henry and Norma Jean McDaniel Hatfield Jr. He married Linda Philpott on September 19, 1965, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Muscatine. He had worked at Hatfield Auto Service before working at Grain Processing Corporation. He retired from GPC as a mechanic in the maintenance department. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 27, where he enjoyed spending time with his friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 44 years, Linda Hatfield of Muscatine; a son Mark Hatfield and wife, April, of Muscatine, and their children, Tara Moore and Ian Hatfield; a daughter, Marcie Hanssen and husband, Dr. Jeffrey Hanssen, and their children, Emily, Katie, and Hallie Hanssen, of Muscatine; his mother, Norma Jean Hatfield of Muscatine; and two brothers, Jack Hatfield and his children, Dusty and Logan Hatfield, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Rick Hatfield of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his father, William Hatfield Jr. in 2000; and a grandson, Isaac Jeffrey Hanssen in 2001.
