WAYNE MITTMAN MUSCATINE, Iowa - Wayne L. Mittman, 75, of Muscatine, died on Saturday, December 25, 2010, at Carrington Place, after a 10 year battle against Parkinson's Disease. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at the Sweetland United Methodist Church. Reverend Jim Turner and Pastor Gertie Nichols will officiate the service. Private burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2010, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be left to the Sweetland United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or the Parkinson's Action Network. Wayne was born on April 17, 1935, in Muscatine, the son of Walter and Clara Kothe Mittman. He was a graduate of Muscatine High School, class of 1953, and attended Iowa State University. He married Gladys B. Kemper on August 17, 1958, at the Sweetland United Methodist Church in Muscatine County. He worked at Grain Processing Corporation for 40 years retiring in 1997. He was a volunteer tax preparer for AARP. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Gladys B. Mittman of Muscatine; his children, Robert W. Mittman and wife, Barbara, and their daughter, Katie, all of Nevada, Iowa, Linda Demmon and husband, Wesley, and their daughters, Naomi, Elizabeth, and Carrie, all of DeWitt, Iowa, John D. Mittman and wife, Lori, and their children, Zachary, Nicole, and Matthew, all of York, Nebraska, and Barbara Beals and husband, John, and their children, Cody and Kelly, all of Nevada, Iowa; one sister, Sharon Klein and husband, Carl, of Spirit Lake; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Catherine Krueger and Bernice Hinrichsen; and two brothers, Donald Mittman in infancy, and Arthur Mittman.
