Agnes lived a simple life enjoying her hobby of quilting in retirement years. A highlight of her and Arnold's life was traveling with Dick Sparrow and his Schlitz 40 Horse Hitch, visiting nearly every state. Agnes fractured her hip in June 2008 and was hospitalized and then evacuated from Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids in the early morning hours during the flood of June 8, 2008. She arrived at Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center in Mechanicsville at 6:00 AM that morning where she spent the last 2 ½ years of her life, lovingly and graciously cared for by the wonderful staff at that facility. In August 2010 Hospice of Mercy joined them in her care. Services for Agnes will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 20, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, with Father David Hitch officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 PM at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, Iowa, with a vigil service at 3:00 PM. For those interested in contributing, memorials may be made to Hospice of Mercy Medical Center Cedar Rapids or to the staff at the Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center, Mechanicsville, Iowa. Burial will be alongside her husband, Arnold in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville.
