Dolores Anne Loftus

Dolores Anne "Honey" Loftus, 73, died peacefully at her home in Maple Glen, PA on April 25th with her family around her. Born in Philadelphia, PA. She was the daughter of the late William A. and Anna Mae (nee Gore) Dwyer, sister of the late William A. and Francis T. Dwyer. Dolores attended Resurrection Elementary School and Saint Hubert High School for Girls. She graduated from Saint Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in 1956. Mrs. Loftus worked as a nurse for over 20 years at ACTS Retirement Communities at both Spring House and Fort Washington Estates until she retired in 1999. Mrs. Loftus used her nursing skills, and natural gifts to care for people throughout her life. She chaired Aid For Friends for over 30 years organizing over 60,000 meals for those in need. She served the sick passionately through an active Eucharistic Ministry that provided communion to dozens of people weekly. She supported St. John's Hospice, and was a long-time rider of Ambler Ambulance. She supported the church through many ministries including making and fixing rosaries, supporting weekly prayer services at Spring House Estates, and cleaning and ironing altar linens for over 40 ...[more]

rs. Dolores also loved being around nature. She volunteered to lead nature walks at Robin's Park. She was an avid gardener, bird watcher, and loved vacations at the shore. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, John A. Loftus, and her six children: Dolores Urban and husband Skip of Ambler, John Loftus and wife Lynn of Lower Gwynedd, William Loftus and wife Veena of Haverford, Peter Loftus and wife Yvette of North Wales, Theresa Zataveski and husband Michael from Quakertown, and Daniel Loftus from Philadelphia. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, and brothers Robert Dwyer of Warminster and Daniel Dwyer of Modesta, CA. She was preceded in death by her brothers William Dwyer and Francis Dwyer. Family and friends are invited to call 6:00 PM-8:00 PM Wednesday, April 29th and 9:00 AM-10:30 AM Thursday, April 30th at the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home, 1111 South Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, PA. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Alphonsus Church, Conwell Drive, Maple Glen, PA 19002 on Thursday at 11 AM. Interment will be in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont, Pa.
