Vernon Thomas

Vernon "Smilely" Thomas Jr., age 82, of Dayton, OH; died Friday July 8, 2011 at Hospice of Dayton. Vernon was born in Estill County, KY on June 13, 1929 to Vernon Thomas Sr. and Nannie Mattie (Dunaway) Thomas. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army and was employed by Chrysler for over 30 years. Vernon is survived by 4 sons James, Timothy, Roy Lee, and Billy Thomas all of Hamilton; a daughter Christina Hinton of Hamilton; a brother Harry Thomas of Hamilton; 5 sisters Joyce Chambers of Franklin, Sue Johnson of Germantown, Marcella Saylor of Crittenden, Elwanda Pearson of Miamisburg, and Dorothy Massie of Hamilton; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services are Tuesday July 12, 2011 at 10am at Anderson Funeral Home 1357 E. 2nd St Franklin, OH. Burial will be in Turpin Cemetery in Winston, KY.
