Marion Gaylord Huhn

Marion "Gaylord" Huhn, 76 of rural Maxwell died on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames with his loving family by his side. Gaylord was born on June 9, 1935 in Nevada to Loren Henry and Iva O. (Gilreath) Huhn. He was a 1954 graduate of Fernald High School. Gaylord served in the Air Guard. His insurance experience started with Motor Way's in Des Moines and he excelled in the insurance industry owning his own agency in Rockford, IL and Cedar Rapids. After Gaylord's retirement in 1984, he became quite an entrepreneur owning several businesses - a restaurant and bar in Pilot Mound, selling manufactured homes and also was a satellite dealer for Sat-scan of Iowa. Gaylord loved spending time with his grandson, working outside, reading, and was a tremendous movie buff. Those left to cherish Gaylord's memory are a son, Chad Huhn and grandson Jakobi of rural Maxwell; a sister Kay Gilreath (Marion) of Mesa, AZ; and a brother Dan (Arlene) Huhn of Nevada.
