Eleanor Moran, age 98, passed away peacefully at her home in Grosse Pointe Farms, Sunday December 12.
Eleanor was born in 1923 in New York City. Ellie had many hobbies and especially enjoyed baking and gardening. She had a sense of adventure and traveled often, going white water rafting in Utah, sailing in the Caribbean, hiking at the Grand Canyon, and exploring the Galapagos Islands. For more than 20 years, she volunteered at the Grosse Pointe Historical Society.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, who passed away in 1979. She is survived by her son, Ray of Grosse Pointe and daughter, Kathe Stoepel (Chris) of Evanston, Illinois; grandchildren Raymond (Mais) Moran, Ryan (Emily) Moran, Katherine (Stephen) Sommerfield, Whitney (Justin) Stoepel-Brewer, Dylan Stoepel and five great grandchildren: Alexander, Zaid, Eleanor, Lucas and Robin.
The family plans a celebration of her life in the summer at the Farms Pier.[more]
