Janice Arlene Honold, 71, of Hampton, Iowa, passed on to heaven the morning of July 14, 2011. She was born November 14, 1939, in Hull, Iowa, to Everett and Frances (Mouw) Van Veldhuizen. Janice graduated from Hull High School in 1958 and from Central College in Pella in 1962. She was united in marriage to Franklin Honold on August 10, 1963, in Hull, Iowa. Janice taught English and French at CAL Community School in Latimer from 1962 to 1967, was a homemaker and worked for Hampton Chronicle from 1982 until she retired. Janice was an active member of the Franklin County Hospital Auxiliary. She also enjoyed reading, Sudoku puzzles, baking, gardening, playing piano and spending time with family. Janice is survived by her husband Franklin Honold of Hampton, son Steven (Karen) Honold of West Des Moines, sister Hazel (Lee) Ver Mulm of Cedar Falls, sister Marlis (Gary) Kuiper of Spencer, brother Dale (Katie) Van Veldhuizen of Rock Rapids, brother Wayne (Connie) Van Veldhuizen of Lake Mills and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Burial will take place in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Latimer.[more]
