Jessie Rae

Jessie Paulina Rae, daughter of the late William B. and Anna (Reichardt) Rae was born at her home in Bingham Lake, Cottonwood County, Minnesota on December 31, 1916. She attended rural schools in Cottonwood and Jackson Counties. She graduated from the Windom Area High School. Upon graduation, she enrolled in their Normal School program enabling her to teach in one room rural schools. All the while she attended various courses to enable her to teach a single class. She taught in Verdi and Jasper Schools in western Minnesota before taking a few years off from teaching to attend St. Cloud Teachers and she took classes at Mankato State University. She taught in Mountain Lake and Austin She attended classes at the University of Minnesota before returning to Windom to teach and be with her mother. She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Windom where she taught Sunday school, singing in the choir, and she held many positions in the government of the church and the church's Women's Society. Jessie suffered a stroke and it was necessary for to become a resident of the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom where she passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011...[more]

She is survived by one sister, Annabel Rae Mielke of Windom; three nephews, Bill Mielke and his wife, Jolaine, of Windom; Dennis Mielke and his wife, Sandy, of Janesville; and Tom Mielke and his wife, Vicki, of Flower Mound, TX; eight great-nieces and nephews; and three great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Anna; one brother, Walter Rae; and one sister, Elizabeth Rae. Blessed be the memory of Jessie Rae.
