Claudette Mae "Claudie" Luett, age 64, of Mesa, Arizona passed away July 22, 2011, at Banner Hospice House in Mesa, Arizona, from a long term illness. Friends and family may gather for "One Last Party" in remembrance of Claudette on Saturday, September 17, 2011, from 2 to 4 P.M. in "The Bistro" at the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa. A private graveside service and burial will be held from the Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. Claudette was born on May 19, 1947 in Davenport, Iowa, to Bruce and Eloise (Hale) Luett of Baldwin, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Maquoketa Community High School, Maquoketa, Iowa in 1965. She attended Mt. St. Clare College (Ashford University) in Clinton, Iowa, and graduated from St. Anthony's School of Nursing, Rock Island Illinois, in 1970. During the 40 year span of her nursing career, Claudette touched many lives. She was employed at Camp Courageous, Monticello, Iowa, Crestridge Nursing Home, Maquoketa, Iowa, and Beverly Enterprises in Illinois. nd the Baldwin/Monmouth Faith United Methodist church. Claudette's favorite past times were planting and tending to her flowers, and fishing. She especially enjoyed her dogs Cracker Jacks and Bizzy, and the outdoors. Claudette is survived by her sister Meredith Brandt of Maquoketa, Iowa, one niece, two nephews and one great-nephew. She is also survived by her lifelong partner, Mary Laing and her son Brent Johnson. A large extended family is also among her survivors. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William Henry Luett. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Claudette Mae Luett memorial fund has been established.
