Robert Lee Current, 76, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Carson & Son Funeral Cremation Services in Maquoketa. Cremation will take place following the celebration of Robert's life. Robert Lee Current was born on January 7, 1935 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to James, Sr. and Daisy (Wray) Current. He married Janet Countryman on December 4, 1954 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. She preceded him in death on December 7, 1990. Robert graduated from Maquoketa Community High School in 1954, where he was a four year letter winner in football. His interests were always related to auto mechanics and held 2 part-time jobs after school. Following graduation, Bob opened his own repair shop, Current's Auto Repair, and has continued to be self-employed since that time.
