Marvin Charles Erpelding was born February 13, 1930 in Algona, son of Peter Nicholas and Hilaria Elizabeth (Bormann) Erpelding. He grew up in the Algona area graduating from St. Cecelia Academy in the class of 1948. Marvin was married to Mary Katherine Streit on October 23, 1951 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Whittemore. He served in the United States Army from January 16, 1952 until January 16, 1954 being stationed at Ft. Riley, KS and at Camp Atterbury, IN. Marvin was a grain and livestock producer farming southeast of Whittemore for 55 years. He loved being with his family and enjoyed woodworking. Marvin was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society, and was a past board member of AMPI. Marvin C. Erpelding died Wednesday, August 03, 2011 at Good Samaritan Society, Algona at the age of 81. He is also survived by 4 sisters, Rosanne (Michael) Schmit of Algona, Mary Illa (Edward) Kisch of Algona, Madonna (Gary) Johnson of Estherville, and Janet (Lewis) Elbert of Clarkston, MI; one brother, James (Judy) Erpelding of Golden, CO; one sister-in-law, Bonnie Erpelding of Wesley; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Maurice Erpelding and Gerald Erpelding. Memorials may be directed to St. Michael's Catholic Church or Hospice of Heartland, in memory of Marvin C. Erpelding.
