Thomas Gregory Nation

Tom was born December 17, 1963 in Fairfield, Illinois. He moved to Harvard, Nebraska as a small child. and later moved to Omaha, Nebraska in his teenage years. Tom graduated from Omaha Benson High School and later moved to Hastings, Nebraska and had two daughters. After starting a career as a truck driver, he moved back to Omaha and spent the remainder of his life there. Tom was a complicated man because he was so intelligent. He enjoyed tinkering on cars and could fix most anything. When his car needed a repair, Tom would fix it, if he couldn't, he would research it and get to work. He was the king of research. He loved his ford escorts and when it finally was unfixable, Low and behold, he purchased a "new one". Tom loved his "penny on wheels". Tom enjoyed spending time on his bike, his silver steed. He would proudly take his grandkids for rides, but most definitely his little miss muffet on a hop-a-cicle ride. He always made sure to include and help the novice riders, teaching them the rules of the road and "just enjoy the ride". or speed and no fear. He was a dare devil! Tom loved his daughters, they were his whole world. He cherished spending time with them and his grandkids (who could do no wrong, especially his little miss muffet). As a single father, he taught his girls how to act like a lady but also how to be strong and to not take no shit from anyone. He embraced most types of music with rock and roll and the blues being at the top of his list. He loved going to concerts and somehow always ended up with the greatest seats. He thought of himself as a photographer and had to capture every moment. It was a rare occasion that he would let you capture one of him and if he did he flipped you the finger first. Tom took pride in many things and many people. He was always there if you needed him, always there to lead a hand and was a true and loyal friend. Thomas is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Orville and Wilma Wiles; and his mother, Helen. He is survived by his beloved children Lindsey and Brandy Nation; grandchildren Wyatt Nation, Noah Nation, and Braelynn Vacek; and sisters Pamela Hinrichs and Jacque Meyer. CELEBRATION OF LIFE Friday, January 21, at 12:00pm at Good Shepherd 90th St Chapel (3809 No 90th). Memorials may be directed to the family. Please wear casual dress in memory of Tom.
