Lawrence A. Breitenfeldt, "Larry" of Antigo, died Saturday, August 20, 2011 at his home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 82 years old. He was born on March 27, 1929 in Shawano County, a son of Fred and Anna (Sickinger) Breitenfeldt. He married Jane Drexler on July 11, 1953 at St. John Catholic Church in a double wedding ceremony with his brother Lloyd and Jane's twin sister Jeanette. He was a graduate of Bowler High School and served with the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 having been stationed in Korea. After service he returned to Antigo where he worked for the Langlade County Highway Department for 36 years. Mr. Breitenfeldt was a volunteer for Operation Compassion for 20 years and served on the advisory board for the Committee on Aging in Langlade County. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, C.A.R. and was a founding member of the Antigo Cribbage Club. He enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, gardening, casino trips and playing cards. Antigo, Carol Breitenfeldt and special friend Paul, Wausau, Amy (Dan) Luther, Appleton; six grandchildren Melissa Heil, Curtis and Amanda Blatecky, Jedediah Breitenfeldt, Eric and Steven Luther; a brother John (Sharon) Breitenfeldt, Tilleda; a sister Frances Hottenstein, Stevens Point. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter in infancy, Janice Breitenfeldt; three brothers Lloyd, Clarence and James Breitenfeldt. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann, officiating. Entombment will take place in Queen of Peace Mausoleum where the Antigo Veterans will conduct military rites. Visitation will be 3:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Bradley Funeral Home. A parish wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
