Ronald Neal Walker

MADISON - Ronald Neal Walker was born October 15,1946 in Durham, NC and passed on January 21, 2022, in Madison WI at the age of 75. He was a longtime WI resident and lived in the Dairy State since 1968. He served in the US Army as a helicopter scout with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969 reaching the rank of Sergeant (E-5). Ron graduated from Durham High School in 1965 and later received a BS (c.1973) and MS (c.1974) from UW Stevens Point in history, and a JD (1979) from UW Madison. He was a man with many interests and talents as an educator, scholar, inventor, and musician, as well as a lawyer for 40+ years in the Iowa County area. He was an avid gun enthusiast, dog lover and devoted father. Ron served as a volunteer firefighter in Cobb, WI, where he also owned and operated a daycare center. He was known far and wide for his famous NC-style pork barbecue. He was predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth Walker. Ron is survived by his loving wife, Janice K. Ashley, whose indispensable hugs were comforting. Ron's funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at TEMPLE BETH EL, 2702 Arbor Dr. Madison on Sunday, January 30, 2022. Proof of vaccination and a booster, as well as a mask are required for entrance.
