Gerald Robbins

Gerald D. "Jerry" Robbins, age 83, of Quincy, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 1:31 a.m. in Blessing Hospital. Gerald was born on April 20, 1938 in Augusta, IL, a son of Chester and Beulah Yard Robbins. He married Carol Waller. She survives. Gerald graduated from Augusta High School in 1956.He graduated with a B.S. degree in Business and Physical Education from Western Illinois University in Macomb in 1961. He earned a Masters degree from Northeast Missouri State (now Truman State) in 1967. Gerald taught Math at Liberty High School, from where he retired after 33 years. He spent summers working for the Quincy Park District for many years. One of his greatest pleasures was boating on the Mississippi River and playing baseball and softball on local teams. He religiously followed local high schools in baseball, basketball, and football. He has held Quincy Blue Devil tickets for over 40 years, and he was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Gerald's biggest accomplishment was his three grandchildren and his great-grandchildren who loved him dearly. In addition to his wife, survivors include his son Tim Robbins; a daughter-in-law, Socorro Robbins of Quincy; three grandchildren: Christopher (Christine) Robbins of Quincy; Sarah (Joseph) Hayes of Holts Summit, MO; and Jessica Robbins of Quincy; great-grandchildren include: Grace, Ava, Everlin, and Noah Hayes; Sophie Robbins; and Ricky, Blake, and Brady Barnes. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Eugene, who died in infancy. Services: 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev.
