Robert Maras

Robert Lynn Maras was born on July 28, 1950, to Raymond and Dorothy (Twait) Maras in Windom, Minnesota. He was baptized on July 28, 1950 at the Windom Area Hospital and later confirmed at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom. Robert attended rural country school District #177 through the third grade and then attended Windom Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1969. After high school, Robert attended Jackson Vocational School where he studied to be an electrician. Robert was employed at the Windom Co-op Elevator until the time of his accident on October 10, 1971. After his accident, Robert lived in rural Windom and kept busy volunteering his time. Robert passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester at the age of 61. Robert was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom. He was also a very active member in the Windom Lions Club for many years. Robert volunteered with the Jeffers Summer Rec coaching and speaking to the youth about his life. He is survived by his loving mother, Dorothy Maras of Windom; five siblings, Roger Maras and his wife, Jan, of Fargo, ND; Russell Maras and his wife, Gail, of Windom; RuthAnn Determan and her husband, Jack, of Jeffers; Rosemary (Maras) Sweetman of Redwood Falls; and Roy Maras and his wife, Sherry, of Redwood Falls; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond in 1981 and brother, Richard in 1968. Blessed be the memory of Robert Maras.
