William D. "Bill" Thompson WAPELLO, Iowa--William D. "Bill" Thompson, 80, of Grandview, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2011, at the Wapello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2011, at the Grandview Community Bible Church, 206 W. Monroe, Grandview, Iowa. Pastor Darryl Erickson will be officiating. Casket bearers will be Dan Runnells, Scott Larkins, Jason Thompson, Doug White, Steve Scorpil and Tom Boorne. Honorary casket bearers will be John Brotherton and Bob Thompson. Burial will take place in Grandview Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2011, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Muscatine. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Bill's name. William Donald Thompson was born on March 7, 1931, in Fruitland, the son of Joseph Richard and Lela Mae Gauger Thompson. He enjoyed fishing, camping, singing, dancing, playing guitar and working on cars. More than anything, Bill loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. Bill will be deeply missed by his wife, Margaret Thompson of Grandview; a daughter, Peggy Townsend and husband, Don, of Wapello; a son, Donnie Thompson of Grandview; five grandchildren, Dan and Jamie Townsend-Runnells, Stacy Thompson, Scott and Regina Larkins, Jason and Emily Thompson and Linsey Pytel; 10 great-grandchildren, Bryar, Bailey and Brody Runnells, Jason and Caliegh Miller, Tucker Larkins, Camden and Gracelin Pytel and Natalie and Taylan Thompson; and three sisters, Francis Thuma of Tipton, Bonnie Thompson and Pat Dickey both of Muscatine.
