Hazel Lillian Theisen

Hazel Lillian Theisen, of Antigo, died Monday, February 7, 2022, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was 94 years old. She was born on March 2, 1927, in Antigo a daughter of William and Ella (Hoppe) Hanke. She married Louis Theisen on July 17, 1948, in Antigo. He preceded her in death on February 9, 1996. She was raised in Neva and attended Gilles Grade School. She lived in Neva for many years before moving to Antigo in 1991. She worked for Area Potato Farms. Hazel was a wonderful cook and baker. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden, playing cards, and feeding the birds and pet squirrels. Most of all, Hazel loved spending time with her family. She was a Gold Star Mother and a member of the Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Auxiliary Unit 377 in Elcho. Survivors include four daughters, Beverly (Robert) Tesch of Franklin, Diane Schultz of Madison, Mary (Keith) Ploeger of Kiel and Barbara (Scott) Campbell of Antigo; son, Steven (Denise) Theisen of Antigo; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one on the way in August. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 12, at 1 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Dr. Jeff Nielsen officiating. Burial will take place in the Queen of Peace Cemetery, Antigo. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Jill Lewandowski and the staff of Hands with Hearts for the compassionate care they provided to Hazel.
