Edna Virginia Wick, 90, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Mt. Union, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Arbor Court, Mt. Pleasant after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born October 23, 1920 in Burlington, the daughter of George and Dora Gieselman Schnicker. She attended Park Country School and graduated from Burlington High School in 1937. She worked at Spurgeon's Department Store until she married Richard H. Wick at Zion United Church of Christ in Burlington on May 20, 1945. They lived on a farm near Mt. Union for 62 years and moved to Mt. Pleasant in 2007. Mrs. Wick was a member of the Mt. Union United Methodist Church and the Mt. Union Women's Society. Before her illness, she was active in the church and sang in the choir. She worked on the farm, and liked to be outside enjoying her flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles. Christmas day was her favorite day of the year. She is survived by her husband Richard of Mt. She was preceded in death by her parents: seven brothers, Chester, Raymond, Milton, George, Melvin, Herbert, and Roy; and two sisters, Laura Brockelman and Marie Walz. Funeral services for Mrs. Wick will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, September 26, at Elliott Chapel, New London. Pastor Sue Cubbage will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery, rural Mt. Union. Visitation will begin after noon on Sunday, September 25, with the family present from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Memorials have been established to the Mt. Union United Methodist Church and Trinity Cemetery.
