Michael John Gannon

Michael John Gannon, age 72 of Colfax, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com The son of John Joseph and Helen (McGreevy) Gannon, Mike was born on April 14, 1949 in Des Moines. He graduated from Mingo High School in 1967 and then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University. On July 24, 1971 he was united in marriage to Brenda Beals, they had three sons, Josh, Shane and Josiah. The love of Mike's life was his wife, Brenda and their children and grandchildren, along with his Catholic faith and a lifetime of farming which included the profession of an Agronomist. As an agronomist, he especially enjoyed teaching his clients about diseases of plants and identification of weeds, competing in ISU's State Fair Weed Identification Contest for several years in the professional category. Preceding Mike in death were his parents, a son, Josiah "Poe"; a brother, Chris Gannon. And his wife's parents, Robert and Margaret Beals.
