Richard Adams Andrews, resident of Chandler, AZ, passed away into eternal life on 2/16/2022 at age 75. He attended Bethlehem High School in Delmar, NY and continued his education at Worchester Polytechnic Institute in Worchester, MA before being drafted into the military. Richard proudly served in the U.S. Army from 6/1967 - 2/1969. He was stationed in Seoul, South Korea during the Vietnam War where he achieved the rank of SP-5. His role as Specialist 5 which was equal to Sergeant or "Buck Sergeant" which was considered the first rank of a Non-Commissioned Officer. The SP-5 position was reserved for soldiers with managerial skills instead of combat arms and currently no longer exists in the modern US Army; it has been rescinded in 1985. Richard continued to serve in the National Reserves until he was Honorably discharged in 6/1973. After the service, he married Carol, and had three wonderful children Susan, Michael and Jennifer. a life of service. Wherever he and his family landed he served others. Richard spent much of his early career working for the best accounting firms in the country, often referred to as the Big 8; primarily working for health management. During his time with these companies, he travelled for work and developed relationships with every major hospital across the country. His most recent position was working at Banner Heath Care in Mesa, AZ as Director, Process Engineering where he was employed for close to 20 years. He enjoyed Golf, Fishing, Photography, and Family. He is survived by his spouse of 51 years, Carol Ann (Krause) Andrews, his 3 children: Susan (Andrews) Massucci and Martin Massucci, Michael Andrews and Suma Sen, Jennifer (Andrews) Ziliak and Bill Ziliak; his grandchildren: Martin, Gianna, Madison, and Ava; siblings Carolyn Andrews and Robert Thomison, William and Beth Andrews, Donald and Cheryl Andrews; nieces and nephews: Donald "Don" Jr. and Dr. Laura Andrews, Ryan and Susan Andrews, John and Meaghan Andrews, Michele Andrews, Skyler (Walley) Redford and Hugh Redford and Grant and Elyse Andrews. Preceded in death by his parents Norman Andrews and Ruth Andrews, and brother-in-law James Walley. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity.
