Gary Allen Lande

Gary Allen Lande age 70, passed away peacefully with family by his side on October 16, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He had fought a courageous battle of lung cancer for 2 years and nine days. A gathering of friends and family visitation will be 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. with the family present 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way, Ames. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 20, Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley with burial in Fjeldberg Lutheran Church Cemetery. Gary was born August 28, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa. He is the son of George and Arlene Lande of Huxley. He graduated from Ballard Schools. He married Judy Holdredge on Sept. 22, 1962 in Ames. The majority of his life he was a mechanic working at Earl's Garage, Texaco Campbell Oil, Mobil and then at Kmart until they closed the auto shop. He was currently employed at Iowa State University in food service. He had various hobbies but he enjoyed restoring cars and then moved into garden tractors and working on the family farm.
