Claire M. Doman

Claire M. Doman died Saturday, March 5, 2022, surrounded by her family at her home in Ambler after an extended illness. She is 87 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Ruth (nee McCullough) Schmieg. Mrs. Doman was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Claire Meier in 2008. Claire was a graduate of Little Flower High School and studied piano at Clark Conservatory of Music. She earned an Associates Degree in English and went on to marry Francis (Bud) Doman, moved to Ambler and had 10 children. While raising her children, Claire returned to Gwynedd Mercy College, worked in the Public Relations Department and earned her Bachelor's degree. Claire went on to find her dream job as the Manager of the Choral Department at the Esther Boyer College of Music at Temple University where she worked until her retirement. She loved her job and often said she would work there for free. She enjoyed traveling with the Concert Choir and was a great support to the music students and Choral faculty who loved her back. nd Ambler Choral Society. She loved cooking for family and catering with her beloved daughter Claire. In the opinion of Claire's family, friends, and people for whom she catered, she was a master cook. She was especially proud that her children inherited the gifts of both music and cooking. She loved and doted her friends, her family, her 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes were gardening and spending time at the shore. Her love of the Lord was evidenced by her devout Catholic faith, her devotion to St. Anthony Of Padua Parish and her gracious service to others. In her later years, although Alzheimer' pulled Mom away from her active life, it could not in any way diminish the authentic Claire, which is unqualified Love and Humor. Claire is the devoted mother of Francis (Terri) Doman of Chandler, AZ., Miriam "Mimi" (Christopher) Wood of Cape May, NJ, Matthew (Diane) Doman of Harleysville, Ruth (Stephen) Rohrbacher of Harleysville, Suzanne Doman of Ambler, Elizabeth Nogueda of Harleysville, Christine "Chrissy" Haas of Schwenksville, Jonathan Doman of Ambler, and Stephen Doman of Ambler. She is the loving Grandmother of 16 and Great Grandmother of 7+. She is also the cherished sister of Jerry Schmieg, Ruth McCole & Frances Trevelino, all of Philadelphia, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday, March 11, 2022 from 9:15 to 10:45 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church 259 Forest Ave. Ambler with Words of Remembrance at 10:45 am.
