John Weddington Kenady, age 53, entered into eternal life on March 6, 2022 at 6:00 am. at his home, Maple Terrace, in Quincy, Illinois. He was born June 7, 1968 to Robert and Gwendolyn Knox Kenady in Quincy, Illinois. John was the 5th child of the Kenady Family, and from his first moments brought joy, laughter, and much love to everyone who knew him. He attended Special Education classes in Quincy Public Schools, and graduated in 1989 from the program. After graduation, he immediately became the first resident of the newly constructed Maple Terrace Group Home. The staff and other residents quickly became extended family. John was a member of Ellington Memorial Presbyterian Church. He was involved in Special Olympics, scouting, and had attended a Sunday School Class at Central Baptist Church taught by Russ Hess II. He enjoyed participating in the work program at Transitions where he and his dance partner, Susie Albsmeyer, joyfully competed in Dancing with The Stars. John made friends everywhere he went. He is also survived by his nieces Claire (Andrew)Kearse, Kate (Christian) Wingerter, Emily (Monte) Heemeyer, Maggie Hess, Natalie (Nick Noble) Kenady, and Liz Kenady, all of whom reside in Quincy. Nephews Jackson and Louie Ferguson, and niece Emma Ferguson of Watertown, South Dakota. Nephews Cody Dennis of Washington D.C., and Tyler Dennis of Boynton Beach, FL. He was the proud Great-Uncle of Eden and Kenady Kearse, Braeden Reed, Knox, Maple, Mac, and Ruthi Heemeyer, Bennett Wingerter, Ginny Hess, Ava Kenady, and Nevaeh Noble. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, his infant sister, Margaret Beth, and his brother, David Kenady. The family of John would like to thank the staff of Maple Terrace who have loved and cared for John for 32 years, especially Director Jan Koehler, and staff member Eric Sprinkle. Also greatly appreciated are the Second and Fifth Floor, and the ICU nursing staff at Blessing Hospital, and the Hospice Staff for their kind, patient, and excellent attention to John's needs. Private family services will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Pastors Jim Dennis and Steve Ferguson, his brothers-in-law, will be officiating. Memorials may be made to Karen Dennis to assist in John's great-nephew's medical expenses.
