Laura Luker, 79, of Quincy, IL passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022. Laura was born June 21, 1942 in Palmyra, Missouri, the daughter of Harvey and Florence Landt Hinkson. She married the love of her life, Verlyn Luker, on December 16, 1961 at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Steffensville, Missouri. He survives. At an early age Laura accepted Jesus as her personal savior, followed him in Baptism, and joined the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Laura has been a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Quincy, IL since September 1968. She was an active member of the Church serving in many areas including: AWANA, Children's Church, pianist for Sunday School, and preparing funeral dinners. Laura began her education in Steffensville, MO and graduated from LaBelle High School. She attended Blessing Hospital School of Radiology Technology becoming a Registered Radiology Technician. She later became both a Registered Mammogram Technician and a Registered Ultrasound Technician. She was employed at St. Mary Hospital and Blessing Hospital. er school years. She also enjoyed going on shopping sprees while visiting her son Jeff in St. Louis. Laura loved to cook for family and friends, spending time with her cats, gardening, and bird watching. Laura also enjoyed traveling with her husband and visited most of our States and several foreign countries. Survivors include son Jeffrey Luker, St. Louis, MO; daughter Heather Luker, Quincy, IL; brother Ben Hinkson and his wife Joan, Galesburg, IL; sister Elva Spicknall, Lewistown, MO; sister Reba Florea and her husband Delmar, Kahoka, MO; sister-in-law Joyce Wilson, Walport, OR; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law Fred and Freeda Luker, brothers Edward Hinkson and David Hinkson, sister Mary Ellen Minear, sister-in-law Edna Hinkson, brothers-in-law Jerry Spicknall, Bruce Minear, and Bob Wilson. Visitation will be 4-7 pm on Friday March 18 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 am Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Manago officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, IL. Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church of Quincy, IL or Quincy Medical Group Cancer Institute.
