as very involved with Temple Shalom and made many lifelong friends. Arvin loved fishing, poker, fixing things around the house, Las Vegas, and a good martini. He had a boisterous laugh that was easily picked out of a crowd. He was always quick with a joke, good or bad. Arvin's real passion was his family. Arlene was the love of his life for over 59 years, and they were a perfect match. His children have fond memories of road trips in the station wagon, fishing excursions, and backyard barbecues. His true pride was his grandchildren. He often said about his grandkids that "anything goes at Grandpa's house" and he loved to send them home spoiled to their parents. He was also lucky to be able to meet his first two great-grandchildren. Arvin is survived by his wife Arlene, son Jerry (Lori), daughter Pam (Mike) Kalpin, son Ricky (Jenny), grandchildren Becca (Nick) McGlaun, Brady (Rachel), Megan, Hannah, Julie, and Molly, and great-grandchildren Charlotte McGlaun and Grace Kreitman. We love you, Arvin, Dad, and Grandpa. Your memory is a blessing to us. A memorial service will take place at Temple Shalom in Dallas, Texas on Sunday, April 10 at 2:00pm. Donations in Arvin's memory can be made to the Temple Shalom Torah Study Tzedakah Fund or to the rabbi's discretionary fund.
