Matthew J. Scanlon

Matthew J. Scanlon, 51, of Woonsocket, died April 9, 2022, in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Maurice Scanlon, Sr. and Ellen (Wiberg) Scanlon. Matt worked for JD Landscaping for 13 years, and Savers for 5 years. He was a New England sports fan, and had a particular fondness for baseball, playing in his youth. Matt loved music and soap operas, especially Days of Our Lives. He was a kid at heart, and his playful personality was a magnet for all of the children in his life, especially those who called him "Papa". Matt was known as the class clown, and had a knack for making others laugh. He leaves his children, Jenna, Shaun, and Samantha Scanlon, all of Woonsocket, and Jessica Fox of Cranston; his brother, Maurice Scanlon, Jr. of Pascoag; three sisters, Christine Murillo, and Laurie and Jennifer Scanlon, all of Woonsocket; and five grandchildren. His funeral will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022, beginning with visitation at 4PM, followed by a service at 6 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. [more]
