John E. Riggs, 76 of Swayzee, Indiana died Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Marion Health. John was born February 15, 1946, in Elwood, Indiana to Doyte and Naomi (John) Riggs. John graduated from Fairmount High School in 1964. He married Linda Shroyer on July 22, 1967, at Point Isabel United Methodist Church. John worked as a mechanic for many years at many places including Greentown Equipment, Top Ag, and at his service station. He was a volunteer fireman for the Green Township Fire Department for fifty years and served as fire chief for twenty-five years. John loved to be busy. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He put those skills to use as a boy scout leader for many years. John loved the Chicago Cubs. He was a very hard worker. He would always lend a helping hand and was only a phone call away if someone needed help. John is survived by his wife Linda, son Arrick John (A.J.) and daughter-in-law Amber Riggs, Noblesville, Indiana; daughter Kara and son-in-law-Brian Berens, Swayzee, grandchildren Jace Arrick Riggs, Noblesville, Ella Emery, Noblesville; and Audra M.
