He loved to cook and won the family Lasagna Contest, beating out his mom. He also loved all animals, but his cat Harvey and his "cat-dog" Monti were his favorites. Those left to honor his memory include his children, Ava and Caleb Petersen of Maquoketa; their mother Erin Petersen; his mother, Pat (Ron) Keitel of Maquoketa; his father Bruce (Lori) Petersen of Lost Nation; sisters, Amy Petersen of Dubuque, and Sarah (Mike) Jackson of Cedar Rapids; 4 nieces and 2 nephews; and numerous half and step-siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Eric's kind heart won him many life-long friends that he kept in touch with on a regular basis. He was preceded in death his grandparents Harold and Lois Bock, Elmer and Evelyn Petersen and Charlie and Alice Lasack.
