While in Charleston she also was a licensed tour guide and drove mule-drawn carriages for tours of her lovely city. She also worked at the Charleston Tea Garden and gave tours there. Economic conditions dictated a move back to Omaha and she began her time with KFAB as reporter and news anchor. She loved being on the air and felt she often brought timely news that affected people's lives and safety. She was employed at Vala's Pumpkin Patch for 16 seasons. Her main job was feeding the Pumpkin-eating Dragon, Zander. Over the years she became experienced at many of the jobs at the Patch and loved entertaining the guests. She volunteered at Joslyn Castle as docent for several years and loved telling the history of that building. She also volunteered at Radio Talking Book for the Blind, reading newspapers and occasionally a novel for the listeners. DeAnn was always busy and always looking for the next adventure. She was intelligent, independent, kind, loved animals, and lived her life to the fullest. She is survived by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law Darryl and Tammy Bright, her aunt and uncle, John and Deanna Schmidt, her niece, Destiny (Carl) Medbery, her nephew Chance (Emily) Bargen and three cousins and their families.
