He graduated from Charleston High School in 1984. After completing high school, he enlisted in the Army where he served 4 years in Germany and the remaining years in the National Guard. Dennis furthered his education and earned a Bachelors in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics at the University of Nebraska Omaha. While attending University of Nebraska Omaha, he was granted membership in the Golden Key National Honor Society. Dennis recently worked for National Indemnity Company as a Database Engineer. He had a love for research, and he shared his knowledge to others. His famous saying, "I'm Indian or Choctaw." Dennis was preceded in death by his mother Eva Mae Metcalf, father Virgil Lang, uncles Jimmy Lee Metcalf Sr. and R.L. Metcalf Jr., Aunt Inez Dunn, grandmother Martha Booker and grandfather R.L. He leaves to cherish his memories of 2 surviving siblings, a brother Vincent (Pam) Douglas of Omaha, NE and a sister Annice Madkins of Grenada, MS. His nieces Shanice, Naomi, Joy and Malika, 1 great niece (Ava), 2 great nephews (King and Shaun), and special cousin Ryan Bunn of Fortworth, TX. Dennis has 3 living uncles of Omaha (Willie, Eddie, and Otis Metcalf) and 1 uncle in Charleston, MS (George Lang). He leaves to mourn his aunts in Illinois and one special aunt in Texas (Tammie Lang).
