Born: August 19, 1931
Passed: July 5, 2022
Funeral Home: Hansen Mortuaries
After 90 wonderful years on this earth Johanna Haase passed away on July 5, 2022. Johanna (pronounced Yohanna) was born on August 19, 1931, in Wiesbaden, Germany, the 6th child of 9, (eight girls and one boy). After high school, she met the love of her life, Lowell, in 1951 while he was stationed in Germany. Lowell, the handsome United States Air Force Corporal, and the young and beautiful Johanna, spent many nights dancing together and even won a car in a dance competition! She knew he was the only one for her and left Germany for the United States. They were married on November 26, 1952, and were together for 67 years. Their marriage together started on a farm in Odessa, Minnesota, but after many cold winters they headed west to a warmer climate with their two children (late son Gene and daughter Lori) and in 1964, Scottsdale Arizona became their forever home. Johanna stayed home to raise their children and was the heart of the home. She created many memories of baking, cooking, pool gatherings, dancing, card games, slumber parties, and magical holidays. block, Johanna quickly became an institution of the neighborhood and had many friends. They hosted the most fun neighborhood parties that were always filled with dancing to classic country and polka music. She was charismatic, full of joy, and stubborn too! Johanna was by nature a person who liked to be happy and make others happy. Entering her home she always made sure you had food to eat and your favorite drink. She liked to keep watch on the neighborhood from her carport, enjoyed watching soap operas with her friends, loved listening to music, all the while drinking Coors original beer. She was always out riding her bike even into her mid-80s, or chatting with her many friends at her local Fry's grocery store. Johanna was especially good with kids and they adored her because she had a childlike innocence and joy herself. If you knew Johanna, or as many called her, Hana, Hanni, Joanne , then you were blessed - she was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, and friend. Everyone was instantly drawn to her not just for her fun and easy spirit, but for her comfort, support, and unconditional love and willingness to help. Johanna is remembered with love by her daughter Lori Landers; her granddaughters Brandi Senn (Mike), Jennifer Haase, and Elena Landers; her great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Makayla, Trevor, and Michael; her daughter-in-law Ann Haase, and her sister-in-law Sharon Macdonald (Gordon). Johanna was preceded in death by her husband Lowell, son Gene, parents Hans and Johanna, and her sisters and brother. Memorial services will be held at 10am on July 30, 2022, at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary, 6500 E. Bell Road, Scottsdale, with a celebration of Johanna's and Lowell's lives following after. To honor Johanna, please wear something bright and colorful. In memory of Johanna, donations can be made to the Hospice of the Valley.
