ROBERT FRANCIS KLAVER, SR.

Our hero went home to his eternal reward on August 2, 2022 in Marquette Michigan. He was born in Marinette, WI on November 15, 1924 to Cephas and Geraldine Klaver. Robert served in the Army Air Corps in WWII, helping to develop radar technology and performing material supply operations in Burma. Following the war, he moved to Marquette, MI where he met and married Rosemary (Downey). While living in Marquette & Ishpeming, he was a building contractor and designer. Many of his creative designs can still be found in Marquette County. He earned his structural engineering degree at Chicago Technical College and moved on to Milwaukee, WI where he was an estimator and sales representative for Bethlehem Steel Corporation for over 30 years. After retirement, he enjoyed winters in Saint Augustine, FL and summers at Camp in Little Lake, MI. In his final year, he was a member at D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette, where he was treated with great kindness and respect. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Gwinn, MI on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 10 am with Rev. Allen Mott officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Marquette, Michigan. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to U.P.
