William 'Bill' Franklin Holden

William 'Bill' Franklin Holden II, age 79, of Rochester passed away Thursday morning at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Mary's Campus. Bill was born March 14, 1943 in La Crosse, WI to William and Kathryn (Lund) Holden. He was employed by IBM for 32 years and proudly served in the US Navy from 1962 to 1966. He lived in several towns and was always very involved in community service activities wherever he lived; Eyota, MN, Shell Lake, WI, Blooming Prairie, MN and most recently Rochester, MN. For the last five months Bill resided at Cascade Creek Memory Care in Rochester. Bill coordinated the startup of Washburn Christian Outreach, was on the Lakeland Family Resource Center Board of Directors, volunteered at the Food Pantry, and started Ruby's Pantry, all in Spooner, WI. He was also a member of St Francis de Sales Parish Council, and Knights of Columbus all in Spooner. He was an American Legion member in Eyota and Blooming Prairie. William is survived by his wife, Karen, sister Martha (John) Walski, and children William M. Holden, Kraig (Lindsey) Eddy, Kael (Jerilyn) Eddy, Kateri (José) Cornejo, Jerry Holden, and Joseph Holden. ldren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Lisa. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 31,2022 at Pax Christi Catholic Church 4135 18th Ave. NW in Rochester. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, in Preston, MN.
