Hector Manuel Martinez, resident of Grosse Pointe Woods, passed away on Patriot Day, September 11, 2022 at the age of 56, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Hector was born on December 30, 1965 in New York, New York to Hector Martinez and Diana.
Hector had many hobbies and interests that included boating, maintaining his home's yard, hunting, restoring antique trucks, fishing, and repairing machinery: as skill that was passed on from his father and grandfather.
After a career in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force, Hector retired from the US Air Force with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant in 2017. As an ARMY NCO Hector was forward deployed to the Middle East in support of Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM. As a C130 Aircrew member with the Michigan Air National Guard, Hector deployed many times to Central Asia and the Middle East in support of the Global War on Terror.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Margaret and Eleanor Martinez and his dear sister, Arleen Martinez.
