Daniel Jude Moore

Daniel J. Moore, age 74, passed away September 10, 2022 in Clinton Township, MI after a long illness. Dan was born August 12, 1948 in Detroit, the second of five children born to James E. Moore and Elizabeth Caulfield Moore. He attended St. Juliana Elementary School, De La Salle High School and earned a BA degree at Western Michigan University. He was a longtime resident of Grosse Pointe Woods before moving to the Mt. Clemens area in 2012. After a five-year stint as a media coordinator at Wayne State University Dan transitioned into a life long career in fund development for non-profit organizations in Michigan. Over the course of his career he worked at Crittenton Hospital, Leader Dogs for the Blind, Music Hall Center for Performing Arts, and Garden City Hospital. He finished his career as director of volunteer and client services at Hope Center Macomb. Dan's was sober in AA for 32 years and viewed that as the major accomplishment in his life. He was active in service and meetings in Wayne and Macomb counties until the last two years when his health no longer permitted participation. s two beloved granddaughters Samantha Justine Niskala and Mallory Elise Niskala. Also surviving are his brothers Hugh Moore and James N. (Meghan Carboni) Moore , sisters Lisa Moore and Mary Boykin, former spouse Joanne Salvaggio and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, sister-in-law Patricia Moore and brother-in-law Pollard Boykin. A visitation and memorial service will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022 from noon to 4 pm with a 2:45pm Memorial Service at Chas. Verheyden, Inc, 16300 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Park. Inurnment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
