David DeLeon Martinez

David D. Martinez, age 59 of Austin, Texas, passed away on October 31, 2022. David was preceded in death by his mother, Ester D. Martinez. David is survived by his father, Bonifacio Martinez, Sr., daughter, Julianne Maciel, sister, Vera M. Olvera, two brothers, Bonifacio Martinez, Jr. and Rick Martinez. David also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. David was a 1982 graduate of Travis High School. David signed a professional contract after pitching with the Blinn Buccaneers and with the California Angels. He also played with the Baltimore Orioles and the Milwaukee Brewers. David received his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and a master's degree in Education. David taught and coached at Crockett High School and Del Valle High School. David was a great advocate for special education and a great mentor to many young men that he coached. In the last years of David's life, he found comfort and peace with God. He will be missed by all.[more]
