thearts ever since. Barbara worked her way through college by working for an attorney in Alamosa and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education in 1968. She had her first job teaching 2nd grade in Montrose, Colorado. It was 1969 when Fred and Barbara moved from Colorado to Arizona and have been "desert rats" ever since. She went on to work as a library assistant and substitute teacher while she still had children at home. After her youngest started kindergarten she began her full time teaching career at Riverside Elementary where she taught 4th and 6th grades for 25 years. She was an amazing teacher who made a difference in the lives of her students. Many have kept in touch over the years and reached out to thank her for her dedication and love. Barbara's proudest titles were "Mom" and "Nana". She raised 5 kids who loved and adored her. Nothing meant more to her than her family. She was a very hands-on and involved Mother and Nana. She was always the den-mother, class mom, chauffeur, and our #1 cheerleader. She made our home the place where all friends and family felt welcome. She took in many kids over the years and was a mom to them as well. Barbara's service extended well beyond her family. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many capacities through church callings. She was often taking meals to those in need, buying things for her students and neighbors in need, babysitting, giving rides, cleaning homes, etc. She taught her children to care for others and to be generous and gracious. There wasn't a Christmas that she didn't find a family to adopt and even on 2 teachers' salaries made sure we helped others have a nice Christmas. She involved her children in these service activities and many memories were made of taking Christmas trees, food and presents to families' of students she taught. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of almost 57 years, Fred Kent, their children David Kirk (April Pepper), April Melissa (Santino) Scelzo, Sean Andrew and Allyson Lindsey (Vince) Fiamengo. She loved being Nana to 21 grandchildren and was very involved in their lives. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren. Additionally Barbara is survived by her 6 siblings: Robert (Carol) Poulson, Donald(Jyette) Poulson, Allen (Linda) Poulson, Paul Poulson, Sue (Ron) Decker and Nancy (Mark) Romero and her brother in law, Jeff Snow. She was "Aunt Barb" to 22 nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Maxine Poulson and her son, Chadwick Todd. Barbara will always be remembered for her generous and selfless nature, her great sense of humor (along with a laugh that is legendary), her strong work ethic, and her dedication to her family. If she was at home you would most likely find her in an apron making some delicious home cooked meal or dessert. She will be remembered as a woman strong in her faith and a person who lived the gospel of Jesus Christ daily. She always paused to help those around her.
