achelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Oneonta, NY, and began working at Fenimore Asset Management in 1989. He became Vice President of FAM Fund, where he worked for 28 years, retiring in 2017. He and Amy took on a new adventure upon retiring and moved across the country to Scottsdale, Arizona. Here they made many new friends and renewed their interest in golf. Monte is survived by his wife, Amy Pindar Thompson, son, Ian (Alexandra) Thompson, daughter, Alison Thompson and her fiancé, Dillon Greene, grandsons, Huck Alexander and Max Earl Thompson. Mother, Marion Thompson, sister, Rhonda (David) Natale. Brother-in-laws, Schuyler (Joyce) Pindar and Frank (Kim) Pindar. Along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. As well as dog Hunter and cats, Moe and Norah, which he affectionally called his "critters." Monte was predeceased by his father, Huck Thompson, (2009) and In-Laws, Schuyler (1984) and Anne Wilson Pindar (2011). Always a sports enthusiast, Monte enjoyed playing softball and golf for years. Then his kids' travel hockey and travel soccer games and tournaments took precedence and he and Amy traveled all over the Northeast cheering their kids on. On these travels, many friends were made and life-long experiences were shared. Monte was a loyal Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and San Francisco Giants fan. He rarely missed a game on television and he and Amy attended many of their favorite team's events. Cars and motorcycles were a favorite pastime of Monte's. He would spend hours in search of the perfect project. Monte could turn the most beat-up vehicle to near-perfect condition and find it a new home. Then it would be on to the next one. In expressing condolences, so many people have said what a kind, considerate, gentle, and generous man Monte will always be remembered for. Friendly and funny Monte could light up a room with his crooked smile. Monte left a trail of footprints throughout his life's journey. We can all look back wherever he went and see the huge impact he made.... And smile. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Cobleskill United Methodist Church on June 4th, 2023 at 1:00 pm with an Open House reception to follow at Grapevine Farms. All are welcome. If you wish, please make a donation in Monte's memory to the Schoharie Valley Animal Shelter.
